Editing the HTML File

The HTML file which has been generated by the Package and Deployment Wizard needs to be edited, so that it will properly register the Text Control ActiveX. The VB documentation states that the HTML file is only required if you use Internet Explorer 3, and that you can use the .vbd file instead if you have IE 4 or later. However, this is not true if the document contains ActiveX controls. ActiveX controls need to be included by their class ID in an Object tag. This is the modified HTML code:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
   <TITLE>Project1.CAB</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
Loading ...
<OBJECT ID="UserDocument1"
   CLASSID="CLSID:b89a2c00-99dd-11e6-a5ed-0013d350667c"
   CODEBASE="Project1.CAB#version=9,9,9,9">
</OBJECT>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript">
Sub Window_OnLoad
   Document.Open
   Document.Write "<FRAMESET>"
   Document.Write "<FRAME SRC=""UserDocument1.VBD"">"
   Document.Write "</FRAMESET>"
   Document.Close
End Sub
</SCRIPT>
</BODY>
</HTML>
