Centralized document management processes are becoming more and more important in global enterprises, as well as in small companies, in which employees need to have access to all documents from anywhere at any time.
Documents should not be saved locally on every desktop or laptop, but stored in a centralized location on a server.
This article illustrates how TX Text Control .NET Server can assist developers in creating sophisticated document management projects. This simplified sample deploys TX Text Control .NET Server to search within the full text of all documents.
In the sample, TX Text Control .NET Server is used to open documents server side, in order to search for a term that has been specified by an end-user. If the term is found, the file is added to a list of potential search results.
Additionally, the text around this string is returned, so that it can be displayed in the list of search results. The following screenshot shows this list of results.
The sample also illustrates how to create an image of a document, so that end-users can view the document in their web browser, without any additional software or plugins.
To perform this, TX Text Control .NET Server is used to convert the document to an image on the server. The following screenshot illustrates this view of a selected document:
