Spell Checking

The requirements for spell checking are very specific to the application being developed. Shipping spell checking with TX Text Control ActiveX would mean us adopting a 'one size fits all' philosophy, in which some requirements for the majority of our customer base would be covered.

However, in most cases, customers want spell checking to behave exactly as their application demands - not a 75% solution.

For this reason, we have left spell checking to a number of third party software companies, whose core skills lie in the development of spell checking components.

TX Text Control ActiveX offers these specialists a special API that enables them to develop spell checking components that are not only 100% compatible with TX Text Control ActiveX, but also have been built from the ground up with TX Text Control ActiveX in mind.

ComponentOne VSSpell: Lightweight and easy to distribute with no external dependencies, ComponentOne VSSpell adds complete spell checking to TX Text Control ActiveX. End users can choose to ignore, ignore all, change, or change all words retrieved by the tool. Furthermore, VSSpell keeps an incremental count of all incorrectly spelt words that were changed and ignored throughout the document.

Wintertree Software WSpell: Wintertree Software WSpell is a royalty free ActiveX control that enables developers to easily and quickly add spell checking to their TX Text Control ActiveX based applications. It ships with American, Canadian, and UK English dictionaries, each containing 100,000 words.
