Using the new document sections feature of TX Text Control 14.0, documents can be divided into an unlimited number of different parts. Each part, or section, can be formatted independently of all other sections in the document. The following document configurations and formatting options are now possible:
Multiple page orientationsThe orientation of a page in each section can be specified. This enables one document to contain pages with varying orientations. Typically, this is desirable for reports in which columns of numbers and diagrams, which are particularly wide, are to be presented. The pages upon which the diagrams appear can be defined as sections and their orientation set appropriately.
Multiple headers and footers formattingThe formatting of headers and footers can be specified on a per-section basis. This allows the headers and footers in each section in a document to be formatted independently from the headers and footers in all other sections. It is often necessary to specify the individual formatting of the header and footer in specific parts of a document. For example, the first page of a chapter, the table of content page, preface or even the appendix section typically have a differently formatted headers from the other pages in the document.
Multiple page sizes and margin settingsThe dimensions of a specific page can be set independently to the dimensions of all other pages in a document. Similarly, the margins of a specific page can be set independently to the margins of all other pages. This feature is particularly useful when large business graphics need to be printed on a single page. By simply reducing the width of the margins on these pages, the business graphic can be displayed at maximum size, thus increasing its legibility.
Section dialog boxTX Text Control 14.0 ships with a brand new dialog box. Using the new section dialog box, all formatting options which can be set of the whole document, can also be specified for a single section. This seemingly small but powerful improvement over previous versions allows all the new formatting options described on this page to be independently set for each section. For detailed information on the new section format dialog box, please see New Section Dialog Box.
