These are a special type of marked text fields, which are compatible to Microsoft Word and HighEdit.
Using these application fields, merge fields or address block fields can be imported from and exported to Microsoft Word documents (DOCX, DOC and RTF).
Typical applications for the new Microsoft Word compatible application fields include mail merging, quotation and report generation, or indeed any other application in which data from a database is inserted into a word processing document.
Furthermore, using TX Text Control 14.0 developers can build applications, which allow end-user to utilize their legacy word processing documents, which already contain Microsoft Word application fields.
One of the numerous sample applications, which ships with TX Text Control 14.0 contains the following dialog box. It allows end-users to specify formatting options for individual application fields.
The dialog box is primarily intended to serve as an example of how all the new application field settings can be collected and displayed in one dialog box.
Using the dialog box, the contents of an application field can be made uppercase, lowercase, title case etc. Similarly, text can be prefixed or appended to the content of an application field.
