Microsoft ASP.NET

ASP.NET - the latest incarnation of Microsoft's middleware for the Internet - is built upon the .NET Framework. It is the environment that supports developers who use the .NET Framework to develop web-based applications.

It is bundled with Internet Information Server (IIS). The fundamental idea is that HTML pages can be created with little embedded bits of Visual Basic, C# or other languages, that are interpreted by the server.
