Charlotte, United States (December 1, 1998) - TX Text Control, the complete development tool for creating comprehensive text-based applications, has been newly upgraded to version 6.0. TX Text Control is a powerful programming component which includes a low-level API and an easy to use OCX and allows developers to easily add into their application sophisticated text formatting and display capabilities typically seen only in large word processing programs. In version 6.0, new features make Text Control more flexible and improve Text Control's usability for both developer and enduser.
Text Control's toolbar can now be switched between the old-style 3D look, and a modern flat display, allowing your application to have an updated and uniform look and feel.
The newSaveToMemoryandLoadFromMemorymethods offer a more flexible approach to database programming. Text can be stored in any of the supported formats, in any programming language, and in any type of database. The new methods enable developers to easily copy data from a Text Control to a string variable or memory buffer, or from one control to another.
In earlier versions, many of the formatting functions for tables were only available through a dialog box. Version 6 has comprehensive properties for all table attributes, allowing full programmatic control over the layout and the contents of each of a table's cells.
The 32 bit version of Text Control 6 supports Unicode, which enables the building of applications that will not only run on American and European versions of Windows, but also on Japanese, Chinese, and other far-eastern WIndows versions (95, 98, and NT).
Text Control's built-in dialog boxes are available in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. In addition, developers can translate the resource file, and create a fully localized application in any language.
The Word Filter, which is now available as an add-on, enables the loading and saving of files directly in the .DOC file format of Microsoft Word 97. All available Text Control features are supported, including the addition of tables, images, and OLE objects.
Developers can now call find and replace methods with or without using a dialog box.
All programs written for Text Control 5 will work without modification with the new version 6. In addition, Text Control 6 is fully compatible with Microsoft Visual Basic and C++, version 6, and with Borland's Delphi 4.
Since its original release in 1991, more than 50,000 copies of TX Text Control have been sold. The .NET Server version of TX Text Control offers developers a solid tool set to create robust server side word processing applications. The .NET Windows Forms and WPF client versions offer all the features expected of a fully fledged word processing application in reusable component form. Customers benefit from these years of experience, large user-base, and at the same time, appreciate developing with a mature, reliable product.
