The successful TX Template Designer that is shipped with TX Text Control .NET for Windows Forms is now available online, using the ClickOnce deployment method of the .NET Framework.

This application illustrates how rich client WinForms applications can be combined with server-side applications.

Typically, server-based applications need to be able to modify or create the templates that they use in their document creation.

This process is described on the main TX Text Control web site.

Most server-based applications consist of a web based interface, using which the user can select data from list boxes or data grids. In turn, this data is merged with a template on the server.

Often, these fully formatted templates must be created or modified.

ClickOnce deployment offers developers the tools to provide end users a fully featured rich client Windows Forms application that can be downloaded and installed by clicking on a standard web site form button.

A description on how to set up such a deployment can be found in this blog entry.
