Siemens relies on TX Text Control for electronic catalog
The 'Automation and Drives' division of Siemens publishes a CD-ROM product catalog (CA 01) which features more than eighty thousand products and more than ten million product combinations for use in the fields of automation, low voltage controls and distribution, and drive engineering.
Using the electronic catalog, customers can not only read detailed product information, but also place orders straight from the CD-ROM. TX Text Control is at the heart of catalog, being used to display all data sheets and specification tables.
“The deciding factor to deploy TX Text Control was its precise display of RTF. Competing products from other manufactures are simply not as exact”, says Sascha Wenzlik, programmer in the electronic catalog development department.
Product data is saved in RTF to a database and then formatted and displayed with TX Text Control.
“As the further development of our electronic catalog will lead us to face new challenges, we will continue using TX Text Control from The Imaging Source, as it offers the performance and flexibility we really need.”
