Word processing is one of the earliest productivity applications for PCs in an office environment. Whereas early word processors used tag-based markup for document formatting, TX Text Control takes advantage of a graphical user interface to provide WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editing.
WYSIWYG editing enables authors to concentrate on the content of their document without having to remember a cryptic tag-based markup language, reminiscent of early word processing applications.
Nowadays, WYSIWYG word processing is an integral part of the vast majority of Windows-based office applications. Mostly, applications created with TX Text Control are not stand-alone word processors, but offer word processing to an application whose main purpose is something different.
TX Text Control has been empowering developers to add WYSIWYG word processing to their applications for more than a decade. The success stories section discusses a number of applications that have been developed using TX Text Control. Following are two of the most noteworthy:
SIEMENS uses TX Text Control upon which to build their electronic catalog. SIEMENS customers can not only read detailed product information using TX Text Control, but also place orders straight from the electronic catalog. TX Text Control is at the heart of their application, being used to display all data sheets and specification tables.
MediNote Suite is a TX Text Control based application that was designed specifically for doctors who need to record patient data and to produce reports based upon this data. To ensure the application would be accepted by practitioners, the look and feel of traditional paper-based patient data sheets, coupled with the ease of a WYSIWYG interface were implemented using TX Text Control.
